Ooooh, today got a little tough!
We rode from Montezuma to Ashland, 67 miles. Today’s challenge was a headwind for roughly half of the miles. Add in some hills at the end and some people were pretty tired today. Some people.
I felt pretty great, however. And there I am “toasting” Ashland with my water bottle.
The scenery changed today from high plains to some red dirt hills. It was very pretty and I was ready for a little change.
We stopped in Meade for lunch at 9:00 (who does that?) and I talked them into a kids meal. Perfect! And while I’m showing off the food, here’s the first pie I’ve had on the trip (from last night): coconut cream pie from the Mennonite youth group in Montezuma. Yum!
Here’s what I’ve eaten/drank today:
- 3/4 breakfast burrito
- Coffee with 4 creamers and 2 sugars
- Subway kids meal
- Trail mix
- Bare Naked granola bites
- 2.5 servings of Nuun (electrolyte replacement)
- Orange juice mixed with juice plus powder and ground flax shake
- I don’t even know how many peppermint hard candies
- Garden salad
- Mini Hawaiian pizza
- Mike’s Hard Lemonade
- So much water
I rode with Marie and Shannon off and on. When I rolled into the school grounds, I felt pretty great, kind of pumped even. I decided to do a little yoga in a sparsely populated room, but I guess someone caught me–found this pic on the BAK Facebook tonight. Ha!
We ended our evening at Sam’s Pizza Barn where they were completely overwhelmed by all the BAKers, but the pizza was great. Here’s the Crew!
